The “98" has complex aromas of lush berries intermingled with floral bouquets. It exhibits rich full bodied berry flavors which lend to it’s jammy characteristics with hints of spice, and the oh-so-familiar peppery finish, which begs to linger on your palate for the sheer excitement and pleasure it brings to ones senses. Backed by lasting silky tannins it provides a remarkably smooth finish. This is truly a unique Zinfandel to be enjoyed now and in years to come.

| More » | The 1998 vintage year was another to remember. The winters of this decade do seem to be going through a cycle of starting later and lasting longer into the spring, as did the 1998 season. The rains lasted until the first week of June causing havoc as far as early shoot botrytis and mildew, but was kept in check with good farming techniques. We had a seemingly short summer that was very mild except for a couple of weeks in July that were extremely hot. 114 degrees in places which did cause some burn. The harvest was also interrupted by a mid season early rain that panicked some into picking too early, but others I am happy to say held on to pick at the opportune time. The fruit, despite all the tribulations reached its optimum maturity and was harvested at its peak. |
